LGBTQIA+ Care

As a member of the LGBTQIA+ community, I have always been passionate about helping and advocating for sexual and gender diverse individuals struggling from the many possible impacts simply because of their identity. I have served the community for 6 years within my practice of psychology and much, much longer in different capacities such as advocacy and visibility including currently the Events Committee Chair on the Board of Directors at Centre LGBT+. I also focused more specialized training and education in this area as well. Not only can it be difficult (and at times traumatizing) developing our identities in trying to live our authentic selves, we also face oppression, stigma, and marginalization in many areas of our lives and social spheres despite growing cultural acceptance and some visibility of these identities. This can create difficulties that I believe I not only can connect with on a personal level of experience but can help you with healing, fiercely owning our identities with confidence and compassion, and giving a safe space to be heard, seen, validated, and empowered. You deserve a life where you feel comfortable living in your own skin, having the relationships that you want, acceptance from those important to you, and just in general... freaking acceptance and validation from the damn world its self!!!!!

Although us in the LGBTQIA+ community struggle with a wide range of concerns at different points of our lives that I am equipped to help with, below are some of the more common difficulties I see and that you may be struggling with as well:

- figuring out who we are with our identities
- owning our authentic selves and identities
- working with shame, guilt, and other negative feelings about who we are including internalized homo- and trans-phobia
- coming out to family, friends, and others in our lives
- transitioning
- navigating different romantic relationships or current relationship difficulties
- integrating our spiritual beliefs with our identities
- trauma resulting from identification as a sexual or gender diverse person

I also want to note that I am a very sex-positive therapists and kink-affirming with experience working with different relationship structures such as poly relationships, ENM relationships, open relationships, monogamous relationships and more.
